Today (day 25) has been a great day for cycling team Fertiberia Cajasur so far. At first, there was the birthday of teamcaptain and -leader, Montague Taffe. We wish him a happy birthday!
Second, there was the win of Taffe in Hemsedal GP, which continued the highly succesful serie of races at the start of Season 15. Currently, Taffe is in great shape and in this early season he already achieved 5 podium-spots, of which 3 at the highest spot. Taffe: 'Last season it was a bit frustrating always getting just out of the important places in a race. I only had 2 results, as I mainly was the main favourite. All that disappointments didn't do me quite well. This start of the season is just perfect. I have much more confidence before a race now and I know exactly what I can do. I just needed that confirmation."
This win also meant promotion to third division. The team manager, Rik Andersen: "I think this team completely deserved this promotion. It's a reward for the hard work of the past season and for the great results we had so far this season." With the money all these good prestations brought with them, a new rider has come to Fertiberia Cajasur, Polidefkis Chatzopoulos.
Chatzopoulos has proved already he can get good results in third and second division as well. "I'm glad to be part of this team now. At tundra (his former team) I was at a side-track. After the great past season I couldn't perform really well in first division. This transfer means a big impuls to my career, as this team mainly focusses on climbing, which is my speciality." This new climber might not do only good to the team. It could also be a threat towards Montague Taffe, as they're both great climbers. Taffe says: "I don't think it'll bring problems to the team. I do think I deserve the captain role for the coming races, as I have proved to be in a good shape. But if Polidefkis proves he is in a better shape and I know he is better in that race, I'll surely work for him, and bring the victory to where it belongs, our fantastic team Fertiberia Cajasur."
